The third annual SOCKTOBER campaign gathered 2,981 pairs of socks and underwear, more than doubling last year’s total of 1,200 pairs.

A community initiative of St. Clair Rotary Club and St. Clair Realty, the October drive also incorporated students from Pine River and St. Clair River Elementary Schools.

Donations were distributed to local organizations including The Christmas Room, Kids in Distress, women’s shelters, homeless shelters, and the Salvation Army.

The campaign was spearheaded by Judy Shaune and her daughter Allison, with support from fellow Rotarians Jerry Emig, Owner/Broker at St. Clair Realty, and Kay Davis, Branch Manager and Mortgage Specialist at Union Home Mortgage.

To celebrate the students’ efforts, winning classes enjoyed pizza parties, and all participants received candy and bookmarks as tokens of appreciation.
