At 6:30 p.m. on a beautiful May 16th evening, friends, family, Rotarians and city officials held a dedication ceremony to formally install the Doug Murphy memorial skateboard bench at St. Clair's Skate Park.
Doug Murphy, a long-time Rotarian, passed away just over a year ago and was the driving force behind the realization of a skateboard park for St. Clair. The city council approved a joint committee in 2007 and the park opened in 2010. Designed by local skateboarders, the park cost $300,000. Most of the cost was covered by donations of which Doug Murphy was instrumental in raising.
