Ringing in the Holidays: Rotary's Salvation Army Bell Ringing Event

The holiday season is nearly upon us, and with it comes one of our club's most beloved and meaningful annual traditions: ringing the bell for The Salvation Army!

What is it?

Each year, members of the St. Clair Rotary Club, along with friends and family, volunteer their time to stand outside Neiman's Family Market and ring the iconic red kettle bell.

Why do we do it?

• A Great Start to the Season: It's a fantastic, festive way to kick off the holiday spirit and connect with our community.
• Supporting Local Needs: Every dollar dropped into the red kettle at Neiman's stays local to help fund The Salvation Army's essential programs and services right here in St. Clair County throughout the year. These funds provide critical assistance for food, shelter, and utilities to our neighbors in need.
• Service Above Self: This event perfectly embodies the Rotary ideal of "Service Above Self," allowing us to be visible, active participants in local charity and goodwill.

How Can You Help?

We need you to sign up for a one-hour shift (due to the number of timeslots, we need you to sign up for one of more timeslots) to make this effort a success! It’s a fun, easy, and incredibly impactful way to give back.

Social Committee to handle at the Boardwalk Theatre

Celebrate the season with us at our Christmas Lunch on December 22 at Noon, hosted at the newly built Boardwalk Theatre in St. Clair. Opened in 2023, this modern venue is the perfect setting for an afternoon of festive cheer and fellowship. Enjoy a delicious catered meal, the joyful singing of the Twelve Days of Christmas, and musical accompaniment from our own Hrant on the keyboard.

A highlight of the event will be a theatre-focused presentation, offering guests an exclusive look behind the scenes of the current production, Annie. Discover the stories, secrets, and creative process that bring the show to life, providing a deeper appreciation for the artistry on stage.

Adding to the merriment, our “theatre elves”—the orphans from Miss Hannigan’s Orphanage—will assist with the singing and festivities. While it’s not certain if they’ll be in costume, their energy and enthusiasm promise to lift spirits and make the day unforgettable.

Members are warmly encouraged to bring a spouse, partner, or friend to join in the celebration. The cost is $30 per person. Since we rarely take our meetings outside our regular venue, this is a unique opportunity to enjoy a new community asset and connect with fellow Rotarians. Don’t miss out on a day filled with laughter, music, and holiday joy!

Club members are invited to bring children and/or grandchildren to the club meeting to introduce to club members. It is a time to brag!
